QRPGuys 20m IC Transmitter – $20
We are shut down until late October
For release later this fall…
The predecessor design to our kit was originally published in QST “Hints and Kinks” section late in the 90’s by N7KSB. He worked all continents, and 30 countries using a simple antenna with 1/2 watt. Subsequently it was modified by 5Z4FT/KI5LTH, and now we are carrying on with some further modifications. The original design and this modification incorporate a 74HC240, 8-bit inverting buffer/line driver TTL IC. Added, is a solid state t/r switch, two crystal positions and a built-in simple key with provisions for using your own external key, bug, or keyer. The heatsinked 74HC240 IC is capable of a nominal 1/2 watt output on any single band from 20m thru 10m with slightly less power on 10m. We supply the components for 20m, and give you component values for 17m, 15m, 10m. It is a through hole kit with all components and I/O mounting on an 2.60″ sq. pcb. Power input (10-13.5VDC) is via a 2.1mm X 5.5mm power jack, with 3.5mm stereo jack for optional external key/keyer. There are two switchable crystal positions, (14.058MHz supplied), each with a VXO trimmer cap., and two board mounted female BNC’s for connection to the antenna and receiver. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the most difficult, this is rated at 2 or 3 depending on your experience.
