QRPGuys is pleased to offer a design from Fred, DJ3KK, he calls the SPRAT (Simple-Practical-Reliable-Affordable-Tiny) CW Announced Frequency Counter. It announces the frequency in CW of your receiver or transceiver by feeding it into the audio chain at the touch of a button. The PIC controlled circuit announces the frequency in CW with eight selectable resolution options. There is a mode to capture your IF offset and make it additive, subtractive, or just read the frequency for direct conversion type situations. The speed of the CW announcement is also adjustable. All setup parameters are stored within the PIC in non-volatile memory, and can reprogrammed as many times as you like. It is a small thru hole kit, 1.00″ x 1.50″ pcb with two #2 mounting holes to mount inside your current chassis and is powered by 7-15v. It is an easy build, on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the most difficult, this is rated 2.
